| The one
performance that made my heart race was that of tenor Antonello Palombi,
making his U.S. debut in Seattle's second cast. This Italian tenor had a
very special masculine, almost baritonal sound with lots of power and ping
in the top range. He sang with beautiful phrasing, lovely soft notes, and
passionate dramatics. Barrel-chested and large of frame, he moved well and
easily overcame his less-than-movie-star looks. He has a wide repertoire,
and I hope we get to see him often in Seattle.
